BIO
Mari The Menace was born to write. The Suitland, Maryland native’s story started with a guitar from his grandfather at age 10, and a plastic storage bin filled with poetry written by his stepfather to his mother. While on punishment, Mari found that bin and devoured every word—until he wrote his first poem for an elementary school crush. Caught passing the note, he was sent to the principal’s office, where they discovered he had real talent. That poem won a school poetry contest and earned him a spot as a published author at just 11 years old. From that moment, he knew songwriting would be his destiny.
Fast forward—Mari is now an audio engineer, producer, rapper, and singer with over eight years of experience, a growing fanbase, and a mission bigger than music. Inspired by the aura and perfectionism of Michael Jackson, the versatility of Prince, and the talent and longevity of Chris Brown, Mari blends those legacies into a sound all his own. Imagine Young Thug energy, a splash of Pluto, DMV grit, Go-Go soul, and a pinch of Lil Keed, all wrapped around his unmistakable raspy tone.
As founder of Kick Door Entertainment, Mari is leading a movement. “KICK DOOR” stands for Knowledge In Creating Kings – Die Over Our Respect—and the mission is to kick down every invisible door blocking independent artists from the resources, opportunities, and financial education they deserve. His goal? To build an incubator where indie creatives can thrive with everything they need at their fingertips.
Mari’s résumé backs up his vision: he’s rocked stages in front of 1,000+ at SXSW, gone on tour through Texas, earned radio play for his hit “Did It Again” on 93.9 WKYS (hosted by Little Bacon Bear), and worked with names like The Chemist, Yo TM We Major, and Baby 9eno. With over 85,000 streams across all platforms, and two successful artist showcases under his belt, Mari is proving that independence doesn’t mean isolation—it means innovation.
What sets him apart? He’s not just the voice—you’re hearing the engineer, the producer, and the strategist all in one. He’s built a custom sonic identity around his raspy vocals, making him one of the most respected engineers in his city—if not the best.
Up next: a wave of new singles, a major project, and the official jumpstart of his label’s next chapter. Don’t blink—“Just Call Me Kick Pt. 2” might be coming sooner than you think.
